Bodybuilding
The production of body framework structures at IKARUS combines the 125 years of experience and the latest material technologies (stainless-steel welding and bending). The strength and flexibility of the finished products, as well as the long service life guaranteed by the corrosion-resistant materials, result in a reliable and economical vehicle.
The use of corrosion-resistant materials allows IKARUS to provide a guarantee for up to 16 years for the vehicles. The technology provides rust resistance even in the case of the damage of the vehicle or if the chassis needs reparation.
Ikarus uses a wide range of materials for the body constructions:
- high-alloy steels (containing 30% of alloying materials)
- structural steels
- aluminium alloys.
The technology, machines and equipment used at IKARUS allows the proper processing of these materials. The applied welding technology is suitable for forming bindings of zen materials, thus creating reliable and enduring bodies.
The materials guarantee an extremely long lifespan for the body framework structure, moreover they do not require the use of expensive and environmentally harmful corrosion protection technologies. The technology used at IKARUS is one of the most environmentally friendly solutions in the European bus manufacturing.
The elements of the body framework structures are also manufactured at the IKARUS factory. The latest CNC-controlled equipment is available for the production of these components.

Since 2017 the painting and polishing technology provides a high-quality, durable and aesthetic surface for IKARUS buses. Both technologies meet the environmental requirements.

IKARUS pays special attention to the quality control of the vehicles before delivery. One element of this control is the soaking test, by which all buses are put under a 3-5 bar water curtain in a sprinkler chamber designed especially for this purpose.
