Public transport in Székesfehérvár continues to green up

Attila Steiner, State Secretary for Energy and Climate Policy of the Ministry of Technology and Industry, State Secretary Tamás Vargha, Székesfehérvár Member of Parliament, András Cser-Palkovics, Mayor of Székesfehérvár, Gábor Széles, President of the Ikarus Group, Dr. Zoltán Pafféri, president and CEO of the MÁV-Volán group, Balázs Weingartner, president and CEO of HUMDA Zrt., and Zoltán Tankó, CEO of Ikarus Globál Zrt. The participating speakers emphasized the role of electric public transport on the environment, as well as the fact that sustainable development is part of conscious city management.

The goal of updating the bus fleet under the government’s Green Bus Program is to rejuvenate the existing bus fleet by purchasing new, alternative-powered, locally low- or zero-emission vehicles, thereby gradually greening local public transport.

At the presentation, Zoltán Tankó emphasized that the last step in achieving zero-emission domestic public transport is the replacement of the bus fleet and ensuring the spread of electric buses throughout the country.

The Ikarus 120e 12-meter, low-floor, two-axle, electric-driven buses to be delivered are suitable for transporting 86 passengers at the same time and can travel nearly 300 kilometers on a single charge. The air-conditioned vehicles ensure the comfort and safety of passengers with a place for wheelchairs and strollers, a ramp to assist boarding, an electronic passenger information system, an on-board and driving assistance camera system, and USB chargers.
