Ikarus is testing its purely electric-drive bus as part of an international test program – as stated by the Hungarian bus manufacturer. During the eUltimate project, which extends to 13 European cities as part of the Urban Mobility initiative of the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT), the charging and operating modes of zero local emission buses are being testing and compared to the daily operating costs of diesel engine buses. As part of the program, from early November, passengers in Zalaegerszeg can travel on an electric Ikarus 120e bus, manufactured in Székesfehérvár and representing major Hungarian added value. According to the manufacturer, the data collected and analyzed to date clearly shows that electric buses provide better performance in all regards compared to diesel-powered buses.
