Project: Research and development for a self-propelled bus chassis that is internationally marketable and serviceable.

Amount: 841.035.235 HUF

The extent of the grant: 53,16 %

The subject of the project: Ikarus plans to develop a family of self-propelled, electrically powered chassis that is competitive on the EU market with its high-quality, yet cost-effective properties. Each chassis will consist of the same components and main units. By the design of these chassis, Ikarus pays attention to adaptability, thus the buses will be available in various lengths and would meet the needs of customers. By optimizing the participation of vehicles in urban transport through 5G communication, operating costs will be significantly reduced.

The University of Óbuda, by using research forecasts and market trends to assess the expectations of public transport service providers and service users prepares the data requirements specification for the “Smart Bus” and intelligent service system.

The developments that were carried out under this project helped the company to increase the quality and safety of the produced vehicles, enhanced productivity, helped in expanding the product range and reduced production costs. 

The tools and trainings acquired during the project can significantly help in the development of new products.

The company pays special attention to optimizing production processes and increasing technical efficiency by providing special automotive and bus manufacturing modular trainings for its employees, especially regarding welding trainings.
