Ikarus legendary types
The 200 series:
In the 1960s, Ikarus developed a new product line, which allowed the so-called 200 series to enter the bus market with not only city, suburban and long-distance buses, but also coaches and articulated buses. These vehicles were produced with the same modular frame elements, windows, mechanical engineering, electrical and mechanical elements provided by the same suppliers. The Ikarus 200 buses were produced in large series, have reached almost all continents and have become dominant types of public transport in many countries.
The 400 series:
In the 1970s and 80s, the 400 series was developed specifically for urban, suburban, now medium- and low-floor buses with rear-engine. During the development, the goal of the company was to prepare for new challenges with a modular construction.
IKARUS produced more than 250,000 pieces of the 200 and 400 series buses by which it has become the largest bus factory in the world in in its time.
Due to the reliability and robustness of IKARUS buses almost 100,000 buses are still in operation today (mainly in Russia and the CIS countries).
